Meerkats
Ages 5–7

1st Kengray Meerkats

Meerkats is Scouting's programme for our youngest members. Through play and exploration, children start learning the foundational life skills and Scouting skills that they will build on for years to come.

The Meerkats meet at our hall in Highland Road, Kensington, every Friday evening. When a Meerkat turns 7 they "burrow up" to join the Cub Pack.

Friday evenings, 18:00 – 19:00

Scouting is the world's premier youth movement. In the Troop we teach our future adults leadership and life skills in an outdoor environment.

Our Scout Troop meets at our hall in Highland Road, Kensington, every Friday evening, and spends plenty of weekends hiking, cycling, camping and competing.

Friday evenings, 19:30 – 21:30

No one can pass through life, any more than he can pass through a bit of country, without leaving tracks behind.

The Scout Promise and Law

As part of Scouts South Africa, every member lives by the same Promise and Law.

The Scout Promise

On my Honour I promise that I will do my best:

  • To do my duty to God and my country;
  • To help other people at all times;
  • To obey the Scout Law.
  1. A Scout's honour is to be trusted.
  2. A Scout is loyal.
  3. A Scout's duty is to be useful and to help others.
  4. A Scout is a friend to all and a brother to every other Scout.
  5. A Scout is courteous.
  6. A Scout is a friend to animals.
  7. A Scout obeys orders.
  8. A Scout smiles and whistles under all difficulties.
  9. A Scout is thrifty.
  10. A Scout is clean in thought, word and deed.
