Despite South Africa’s national lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 1st Kengray is embracing distance scouting and taking scouting online for the time being. Our group has run virtual troop meetings and distance cub meetings since the lockdown started and on Friday 5th June 2020, we had the privilege of welcoming well known author and motivation speaker, Robby Kojetin, to talk to our scouts about his dream of climbing the highest mountain on Earth, Mt Everest. Robby has summited five of the Seven Summits – the highest peaks on each of the seven continents – and inspires audiences around the globe to follow their dreams. Robby also has an extensive scouting career and received his Springbok Scout at 1st Germiston and was Troop Scouter of 1st Germiston for a decade. He also played a huge role in PLTU and helped with adult training before following his dream to summit Everest.
1st Kengray would like to say an enormous THANK YOU to Robby for giving up his time to speak to and inspire our cubs, scouts, scouters and their families.
